UREA
Urea is a white, dry organic compound and a crystalline substance, containing a minimum of 46% nitrogen when calculated in a dry state. With a worldwide production exceeding 140,000,000 tons annually, more than 90% of urea production serves as fertilizer. Commercially produced from synthetic ammonia and carbon dioxide, urea is available in various forms such as prills, granules, flakes, pellets, crystals, and solutions. Urea boasts the highest nitrogen content among all solid nitrogenous fertilizers in common use (45.4% N), making it the most concentrated dry nitrogen fertilizer available. Consequently, it offers the lowest transportation costs per unit of nitrogen nutrient. Highly soluble in water, urea is suitable for use in fertilizer solutions, particularly in combination with ammonium nitrate (UAN), as seen in "foliar feed fertilizers.
